Repair 3D/4D GE RAB2-5-D Strain Relief/Missing Connection/Ultrasound Replacement
Strain relief separated from connector or head/ Ultrasound probe artifact may lead to noise due to missing connection. A cracked strain relief may occur where the probe attaches to the cable or it may also be seen
at the transducer connector location. Strain relief may be getting separated or coming loose from connector or head due to bending, system could have run over the cable, or the connector could have been dropped. This kind of damage needs immediate attention since, this may expose the sensitive internal parts causing damages more costly to repair.

Probe Troubleshooting Summary
1. Check whether multiple probes are the same phenomenon, sometimes it is necessary to plug again
2. Lens and crystal failure are sometimes similar, both are shadowing on the image
3. If there is a single probe problem, replace the socket to have a check.
4. The high frequency probe (small parts probe) is sensitive. If only this probe doesn’t work, may be caused by machine failure.
Regular cleaning using the disinfectant of the ultrasound machine, probe, and other peripheral devices is a good practice to apply. The fan cooling system of an ultrasound machine should be functioning well. Overheating causes technical issues. It’s better to keep the machine cool.
A person who is not very experienced with the probe might handle it poorly. It’s better to let an expert handle the machine to keep it safe. You must be gentle with the handling of cords, buttons, and peripherals.
A probe is a part that comes in contact with the patients. Try to check if the connector pins are not damaged or bent. Daily monitor the membrane of a probe. Consider regular servicing or at least a quick repair even for minor defect
